Job summary

The Vicarage nursery is seeking a deputy manager to help run the setting daily, ensuring high standards of care, safety and education in line with EYFS and Ofsted requirements.

As Deputy DSL you will safeguard children, support staff leadership, mentor room leaders, and build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and families, providing a reliable point of contact and role modelling best practice.

Qualifications

• Nursery management experience preferred.
• Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge.
• Experience leading staff and driving training.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the day-to-day running of the nursery, maintaining high standards of care, safety, and education.
• Deputising: Take full charge of the setting when the nursery manager is off-site or unavailable.
• Staff Leadership: Mentor, coach, and support room leaders and practitioners, assisting with training and performance management.
• Safeguarding: Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure child protection policies are strictly followed.
• Curriculum & Compliance: Uphold the EYFS framework and meet all Ofsted statutory requirements.
• Parent Partnerships: Build strong, positive relationships with families, acting as a reliable point of contact.
