Job summary

VICARAGE ROAD PLAYGROUP in Abram is seeking a Deputy Nursery Manager to help run the setting, maintain high standards of care, safety and education, and support staff across rooms.

You will deputise when the manager is unavailable, lead staff development, uphold safeguarding policies, ensure EYFS compliance, and build strong partnerships with families while handling records and planning.

• Deputising: take full charge of the setting when the nursery manager is off-site or unavailable.
• Staff Leadership: mentor, coach, and support room leaders and practitioners, assisting with training and performance management.
• Safeguarding: act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure child protection policies are followed.
• Curriculum & Compliance: uphold the EYFS framework and meet Ofsted statutory requirements.
• Parent Partnerships: build strong, positive relationships with families, acting as a reliable point of contact.
