We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery cook to join our welcoming and supportive nursery team. This is a wonderful opportunity for a Nursery cook who is passionate about providing healthy, nutritious meals for young children and understands the important role food plays in early development, wellbeing, and happiness.

The Nursery cook position is part-time, working 20 hours per week. The hours are Monday to Friday, 9 : 00am to 1 : 00pm, although we are happy to consider a slightly adjusted schedule of 9 : 30am to 1 : 30pm if this suits the successful Nursery cook better. This role is 4 hours per day and offers a competitive hourly rate of £13.50 per hour.

As a Nursery cook, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and cooking fresh, well-balanced meals and snacks that meet the nutritional needs of young children. The Nursery cook will ensure all meals comply with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and nursery policies at all times. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities of the Nursery cook include :

  • Preparing healthy meals and snacks daily for children attending the nursery
  • Managing dietary requirements, allergies, and special cultural or medical needs
  • Following food hygiene, health, and safety guidelines
  • Keeping accurate records related to food safety and allergens
  • Ordering food supplies and managing stock effectively

The ideal Nursery cook will have previous experience working in a kitchen environment, ideally within a nursery, school, or childcare setting, although this is not essential. A good understanding of nutrition for young children is highly desirable. The successful Nursery cook will be organised, reliable, and able to work independently while also being part of a wider team.
