Job summary

Airbus Belfast Limited is seeking an experienced Lead Design Engineer to direct technical design activities for Structures and Systems Installation, reporting to the Design Engineering Department. The role involves night-shift MRB design support and leading staff within an integrated design team to meet design authority requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum a BSc/BEng in an engineering field with at least 3 years' design engineering experience including management.
• Alternatively, 5+ years' design engineering experience with management responsibilities.
• Proven ability to engage with senior leadership, customers, suppliers and Certification Authorities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong organisational and communication skills with strategic vision.

Responsibilities

• Lead and line-manage a team of design engineers across programs, driving end-to-end delivery.
• Ensure all commitments are met on schedule and within budget, with regulatory compliance.
• Provide authoritative technical guidance across departments, optimise design-to-manufacturing workflow.
• Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate technical viability and identify new aerospace opportunities.
