Job description

A well-established veterinary hospital in Rotherham is seeking a Night Veterinary Surgeon to join its dedicated out-of-hours team. This is an ideal role for a vet who enjoys ECC (emergency and critical care) and is looking for a flexible working pattern that offers significant time off.

The hospital is purpose-built and equipped with advanced facilities including a full-body CT scanner, digital x-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab, two theatres, large prep areas, and spacious consulting rooms. The successful candidate will be supported on shift by an experienced night nurse, ensuring excellent patient care throughout the night.

Key Responsibilities :

• Manage all out-of-hours and emergency cases during night shifts
• Provide high-quality clinical care to both routine and emergency patients
• Liaise with referring daytime practices to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment plans
• Deliver clear, compassionate communication with clients
• Support and collaborate with the night nursing team
• Uphold clinical and professional standards at all times

About the Role :

• Part-time, permanent position
• 7 nights on / 14 nights off rota
• Based at a 24-hour hospital in Rotherham
• Access to full case histories across networked practices

What Were Looking For :

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Strong clinical skills in ECC or a genuine interest in developing in this area
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Calm, confident communicator with clients and colleagues
