Job summary

A leading healthcare organization in Greater London is seeking a Bereavement and Palliative Care CNS for a one-year secondment to cover maternity leave. Job description
Overview

We are looking to appoint a Secondment to our Bereavement and Palliative Care CNS to cover maternity leave for a year. The post holder will support families with complex end‑of‑life care needs, provide up‑to‑date expert knowledge on palliative care pathways and bereavement care, and demonstrate advanced communication, decision‑making and nursing skills. They will act as the main point of contact for the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and internal and external palliative care teams, ensuring babies and families receive care in the most appropriate environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide formal and informal teaching sessions to all neonatal staff to facilitate evidence‑based clinical practice.
  • Develop and maintain guidance for neonatal staff on neonatal palliative and end‑of‑life care within the Trust.
  • Develop robust systems to ensure auditable data quality for bereavement, palliative and complex care.
  • Work 70 % as a Bereavement/Palliative nurse and 30 % on the clinical floor.
  • Liaise with all education teams to enable a general information knowledge base and information sharing within the NICU and possibly PICU areas.
Role details

Effective working hours: 70 % on bereavement/palliative care and 30 % on the clinical floor. The role will be closed on Thursday 1 Jan 2026.
