A healthcare organization in Sheffield seeks a Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children to support the Head of Safeguarding in fulfilling safeguarding requirements. The role involves providing specialist advice, developing policies, and offering supervision and training related to safeguarding processes. The Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children will support the Head of Safeguarding to ensure that the Trust fulfils its statutory requirements to safeguard Children and Young People in line the Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), the Intercollegiate Document for the Roles and competencies for healthcare staff (2019), local and national guidance.
As SHSC is a primarily an adult Trust there is an expectation that The Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children will also support the Head of Safeguarding and the wider Safeguarding Team to ensure delivery of safe and effective care for adults in line with the Care Act (2014), the Mental Capacity Act (MCA, 2005) (including Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards), Human Rights legislation and the Prevent Duty. The post holder will be required to provide specialist advice and support to Trust staff regarding the safeguarding of children and young people. This includes supporting practitioners in raising safeguarding concerns for all forms of child abuse and neglect including criminal and sexual exploitation, domestic abuse, mental capacity assessments and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards (DoLS) applications and following relevant age-related safeguarding processes.
The post holder will support the development and review of Trust children and young people related safeguarding polices and guidance in line with relevant guidance.
The post holder will support the development, review and delivery of both Child and Adult training packages in line with relevant legislation, Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competencies for Healthcare Staff 2019 and Adult Safeguarding: Roles and Competencies for Health Care Staff 2018.
The post holder will deliver specialist child safeguarding supervision to relevant others within the Trust and support delivery of the wider Safeguarding Supervision Policy.
The role will include performance monitoring, internal and external reporting and assurance, and the management of data collection systems relating to safeguarding children and young people\'s processes and multi-agency decision making.
