Job description
Overview

The closing date is 12 October 2025. We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Tradesperson to join the Derbyshire Support and Facilities Services Ltd estates team to work within our mechanical team in the estates workshop. The workshop provides a maintenance service to Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and external clients. You will demonstrate strong team working skills; have good experience of working in a maintenance role and be comfortable working to targets and on your own. The post-holder will be required to work on the tradesperson on-call rota for which additional payments will be made on top of the stated salary. The post-holder will be required to support the building and electrical workshops as required and within the capabilities of their skills.

Benefits include Nest Pension with up to 8% employer contributions and up to 33 days annual leave per year (plus bank holidays).

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
  • NVQ3 in a Plumbing/Heating (or equivalent experience).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Significant post-qualification training in plumbing, heating, ventilation or medical gas.
Experience
  • Able to demonstrate significant experience in working with commercial heating, plumbing and ventilation systems, both in terms of maintenance and installation work.
  • Experience of managing more junior trades staff and/or apprentices.
  • Experience of using Computer Aided Facilities Management software to manage and complete jobs.
  • Experience working as a Medical Gas, Ventilation or Water Competent Person.
  • Experienced and able to carry out work in at least two of the following areas - Natural Gas (Domestic), Natural Gas (Commercial), Medical Gas CP, Water Systems CP, Ventilation CP, Pressure Systems CP, Refrigeration, Building Management Systems
Skills & Knowledge
  • Able to utilise trade background to quickly learn new skills.
  • Able to source information to understand how to correctly install materials and carry out installation work.
  • Knowledgeable with regards to the statutory requirements that apply to installation work and able to find relevant information in documents when required.
  • Able to use hand and power tools to produce work to an excellent standard.
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings within area of expertise.
