Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to perform planned maintenance on a range of pumps and control gear, plus diagnostics and repairs to minimise process interruptions. You will provide technical guidance and support to trainees while applying up-to-date engineering knowledge.

The role requires time-served apprenticeship experience, with electrical and upskilled mechanical qualifications, and a valid driving licence. Expect a standard 38-hour week with on-call standby.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with substantial electrical experience in a true multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install or repair mechanical and electrical plant safely.
• For those with mechanical or electrical experience only, we will develop the right people to dual-skilled status.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
• A valid driving licence is essential; vehicle and tools are provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Investigate plant failures and carry out rapid repairs to minimise downtime.
• Provide technical advice and training or support for technical trainees as required.
• Work on pumps, motors, control gear, VSDs, valves, sensors and PLCs.
• Participate in a standby rota after relevant training.
