Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join the Camberley Pumping Stations team. You will inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose, test, install, modify and repair mechanical plant and related electrical equipment, with the aim of keeping sites operational for customers.

The role requires an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications, a multi-skilled approach, and a commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant.
• If you have mechanical or electrical experience only, the company will develop dual-skilled status.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
• The role may involve working in confined spaces and requires physical fitness.
• A valid driving license is essential; vehicle and tools are provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise plant breakdowns.
• Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and training/support for technical trainees.
• Work on equipment including pumps, control gear, motors, starters, VSDs, valves, penstocks, PLCs, dosing equipment.
• Participate in standby rota after completing relevant training.
