Job summary

Thames Water is hiring a Mechanical & Electrical Technician based in Bourne End. You will perform planned maintenance on pumps, control gear, motors and PLCs, troubleshoot faults, and provide technical guidance while supporting trainees.

A multi-skilled electrical/mechanical background and a valid driving license are essential. You will join a company offering a robust benefits package and opportunities for standby duties and overtime earnings following training.

Qualifications

• Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent with upskill in mechanical NVQ2/3
• Time-served apprenticeship with significant electrical systems experience in a true multi-skilled role
• Up-skilling with a mechanical qualification to enable inspection, maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical plant safely
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements and driving license essential

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise plant breakdowns
• Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions
• Provide technical advice, reference up-to-date knowledge and support trainees
• Operate and maintain equipment such as pumps, motors, VSDs, valves, PLCs, dosing equipment and related controls
• Participate in standby rota as required
