Job summary

Thames Water Ltd at Bicester STW (OX25 2NY) is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to inspect, maintain, diagnose faults, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant. You will work with pumps, motors, control gear, VSDs, valve controls, measuring equipment, PLCs and dosing equipment, ensuring site operations stay functional.

Role requires a time-served electrical apprenticeship with mechanical upskilling, driving license, and safety-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems in a true multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely.
• For individuals with mechanical or electrical experience only, we will develop the right people to dual-skilled status.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
• Work in confined spaces with appropriate training.
• A valid driving license is essential; vehicle and tools are provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with procedures to minimise breakdowns.
• Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions; diagnose complex faults.
• Provide technical advice and training or support for technical trainees if required.
• Work on equipment such as pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, VSDs, control systems, valves, dosing equipment.
• Participate in a standby rota after relevant training.
