Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to carry out planned preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, and control gear at our Bicester site. You will diagnose faults, repair quickly, and provide technical guidance to trainees, working in a true multi-skilled capacity.

Base location is Bicester STW. Hours are 38 per week, Mon-Fri 7:30am-3:36pm, with standby rota payments and overtime opportunities that can increase earnings by £8k-£10k after essential training.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant electrical experience in a multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose and repair plant equipment.
• Willingness to develop dual-skilled status if initially qualified in mechanical or electrical.
• Knowledge of health and safety issues is crucial.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and pass required training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise breakdowns.
• Investigate plant failures and carry out rapid repairs to avoid process interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and training support for technical trainees as required.
• Work on pumps, 3-phase motors, starters, VSDs, valves, and PLCs.
• Participate in standby rota following relevant training.
