Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

To strengthen our motorsports program, we are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance the utilization of our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The primary goal is to provide engineering support that improves on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and GM support engineers to conduct analysis studies using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations. Additionally, you will assist in developing and educating offline simulation tools, facilitate feedback to GM simulation development teams, refine vehicle modeling inputs, and help establish baseline simulation settings for on-track events. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation tasks, proactive engagement, and a passion for accurate, efficient models are essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data for input into simulation models.
  • Collaborate with the broader simulation support team to improve the simulation toolchain and enhance race team performance.
  • Provide race teams with expertise on simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in the simulation toolchain development process.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team setting.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling techniques.
  • Highly analytical, customer-focused, with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a dynamic environment, demonstrating a strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Strong team player with flexible schedule and willingness to travel 10% of the time annually.

This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica within a simulation toolchain.
  • Familiarity with modern software development tools, preferably C# and Git.
