Job Description

We are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our motorsports program by improving the utilization of our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The role involves providing engineering support to improve on-track performance, collaborating with race teams and support engineers, conducting analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, developing simulation tools, and contributing to vehicle modeling and baseline setup for on-track events. The candidate must complete projects to high standards, on time, and within budget, demonstrating proficiency in simulation, proactive engagement, and a passion for accurate modeling.

Responsibilities
  1. Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  2. Assist teams in fitting collected data into simulation models.
  3. Collaborate to improve and explore methods to enhance the simulation toolchain and race performance.
  4. Provide expert knowledge on simulation functionalities and modeling practices.
  5. Represent racing team needs in simulation development processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling techniques.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment with a strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Flexibility to travel approximately 10% annually.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica, C#, and Git.
