Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC three times per week at minimum.

The Role

To strengthen our motorsports program, we seek a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our simulation toolchain for GM Motorsports-supported series. The goal is to provide engineering support that improves on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and GM support engineers, conduct analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, assist in developing and educating on offline simulation tools, and contribute to vehicle modeling and simulation settings for on-track events. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation and a proactive approach to vehicle performance activities are essential.

What You’ll Do
  1. Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  2. Assist teams in fitting collected data into simulation models.
  3. Work with the broader simulation support team to improve and explore methods to enhance the simulation toolchain and race team performance.
  4. Provide expert knowledge on simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practices to race teams.
  5. Represent racing team needs in the simulation toolchain development process.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel 10% of the time.
  • Eligible for relocation benefits.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Familiarity with Dymola/Modelica, C#, and Git.
