Job Description:

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC at least three times per week.

The Role: To strengthen our motorsports program, we seek a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The primary goal is to provide engineering support that improves on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and GM support engineers to conduct analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, assist in developing and educating on simulation tools, facilitate team feedback to GM, refine vehicle modeling inputs, and establish baseline simulation settings for on-track events. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation, proactive engagement, and a passion for accurate models are essential.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data into simulation models.
  • Collaborate with the simulation support team to improve and explore methods to enhance the simulation toolchain and race performance.
  • Provide race teams with expert knowledge on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in the development of simulation tools.

Additional Job Description:

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team setting.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling techniques.
  • Highly analytical, customer-focused, with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a dynamic environment, demonstrating a strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Strong team player, flexible schedule, and willingness to travel 10% of the time annually.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica.
  • Familiarity with C# and Git.
