Job Description:

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the candidate to report to Concord, NC at least three times per week.

The Role

To strengthen our motorsports program, we seek a Team Simulation Support Engineer to optimize our simulation toolchain for GM Motorsports-supported series. The main goal is to provide engineering support to improve on-track performance through offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations. Responsibilities include developing and educating on offline simulation tools, facilitating feedback to GM's simulation development, refining vehicle models, and establishing baseline settings for on-track events. The candidate must complete projects to high standards, on time, and within budget, demonstrating proficiency in simulation tasks, proactive engagement, and passion for accurate modeling.

What You’ll Do
  1. Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  2. Assist teams in fitting collected data into simulation models.
  3. Collaborate with the support team to enhance the simulation toolchain and race performance.
  4. Provide expert knowledge on simulation tools and modeling practices to race teams.
  5. Represent racing team needs in the simulation development process.
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team setting.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling techniques.
  • Strong analytical, customer-focused, and well-structured with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with a strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel 10% of the time annually.
  • This role may be eligible for relocation benefits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency with Dymola/Modelica within a simulation toolchain.
  • Familiarity with software development tools like C# and Git.
