Job Description

We are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our motorsports program by improving the utilization of our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The role involves providing engineering support to improve on-track performance, collaborating with race team members and support engineers to conduct analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, developing simulation tools, and contributing to vehicle modeling refinements. The candidate must complete projects to high standards, on time, and within budget, with proficiency in simulation and a proactive approach to vehicle performance activities.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
• Assist teams in fitting collected data for input into simulation models.
• Work with the simulation support team to improve and explore methods to enhance the simulation toolchain and race team performance.
• Provide race teams with expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
• Represent racing team needs in the development of simulation tools.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
• 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team setting.
• Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
• Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling techniques.
• Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with a strong work ethic and integrity.
• Flexible schedule and willingness to travel 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
• Proficiency with Dymola/Modelica within a simulation toolchain.
• Familiarity with software development tools like C# and Git.
