Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC at least three times per week.

The Role

We are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our motorsports program by improving the utilization of our simulation toolchain across GM-supported series. The primary goal is to provide engineering support that improves on-track performance through analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations. Responsibilities include developing and educating about simulation tools, collaborating with teams, and refining vehicle modeling inputs. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Key skills include proficiency in simulation, proactive engagement, and passion for accurate modeling.

What You’ll Do
  1. Support GM Motorsports as a key performance engineer in the NASCAR Cup series.
  2. Assist teams with data fitting for simulation models.
  3. Work with the support team to improve simulation tools and race performance.
  4. Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  5. Represent racing team needs in simulation development.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years in engineering industry.
  • 4+ years in professional motorsport with a race team.
  • Experience with Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% annually.
  • Potential for relocation benefits.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related.
  • Experience with DiL simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica, C#, Git.
