Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC three times per week at minimum.

The Role

We are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our motorsports program by utilizing our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The primary goal is to provide engineering support to improve on-track performance through analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations. Responsibilities include developing and educating offline simulation tools, facilitating team feedback to GM's simulation development, refining vehicle modeling inputs, and establishing baseline simulation settings for on-track events. All projects must be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation, proactive engagement, and a passion for accurate, efficient models are essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data for simulation input.
  • Collaborate to improve the simulation toolchain and enhance race team performance.
  • Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in simulation development.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • 4+ years in professional motorsport within a race team setting.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with integrity.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to travel 10% annually.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica, C#, and Git.
