Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC at least three times per week.

The Role

We are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our motorsports program by improving the utilization of our simulation toolchain across GM-supported series. The main goal is to provide engineering support to improve on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and GM support engineers to conduct analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, develop and educate on simulation tools, facilitate feedback, refine vehicle models, and establish baseline simulation settings for events. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation, proactive engagement, and a passion for high-accuracy models are essential.

What You’ll Do
  • Support GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series as a key performance engineer.
  • Assist teams with data fitting for simulation input.
  • Collaborate to improve the simulation toolchain and race performance.
  • Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in simulation development.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience.
  • Proficiency with Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel 10% annually.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency with Dymola/Modelica, C#, Git.
