Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the candidate to report to Concord, NC three times per week.

The Role

We are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our motorsports program, focusing on simulation toolchain utilization across GM-supported series. Responsibilities include providing engineering support for improved on-track performance, collaborating with race teams, conducting analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, developing and educating on simulation tools, and refining vehicle modeling inputs. The role demands high standards, timeliness, and budget adherence, with proficiency in simulation and a proactive approach to vehicle performance activities.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data for simulation input.
  • Collaborate to improve the simulation toolchain and race team performance.
  • Provide expert knowledge on simulation tools and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in simulation development.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team setting.
  • Proficiency in Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment, with a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility to travel 10% annually.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica, C#, Git.
