Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Underwriter. In a dynamic and fast-growing underwriting business. Our proposition is centred on technical and service excellence, product coverage, fair and consistent pricing, and our trusted claims service.

Job Outline

To contribute to the achievement of business objectives through the delivery of an efficient motor insurance underwriting service to brokers and management of accounts.

Principle Objectives and Responsibilities include the following; other objectives may be assigned:

  1. Deal with new business enquiries, renewals and mid-term adjustments within authority.
  2. Ensure that service standards are achieved.
  3. Work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation, when required.
  4. Comply with Binder, procedures and underwriting authority levels.
  5. Contribute towards business Net Written Premium (NWP) objectives whilst working towards the businesses annual Target Loss Ratios.
  6. To undertake training in line with agreed objectives and keep up-to-date with technical, legal and market developments via use of e-learning, internal training and reading market related material.
  7. To maintain and develop personal knowledge and skills through continued professional development as well as ongoing at desk training and ensuring that this is recorded in line with Training & Competency requirements.
  8. To conduct the business of the Company at all times in a courteous and efficient manner.
  9. The jobholder will, at various times, act for the insured and insurer. The jobholder will be responsible for adhering to all the Group's procedures and policies in relation to the identification and management of potential conflicts of interest and for the fair treatment of customers, and will ensure they follow the systems and controls operating to ensure that this is the case.
  10. To undertake any other task as may reasonably be required by the Company.
