Job summary

RAC is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician for the SMR Division in the UK. You will handle pre-booked, scheduled diagnostics and servicing with a fully equipped RAC van, working 40 hours across Monday to Saturday with core hours and overtime opportunities.

Your role focuses on planned work in members’ driveways and workplaces, not emergency callouts. You’ll use advanced diagnostics, perform in-depth repairs, and provide trusted advice while maintaining RAC standards and safety checks.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, with 2+ years’ experience.
• Or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• Invest in your technical development via RAC’s structured pathway toward accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

Skills

NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Mainten.

5+ years experience as Vehicle Tech/Me

Full UK driving licence (<6 points)
