Job summary

RAC is recruiting Mobile Mechanics for its SMR division. You’ll work on booked jobs at customers’ driveways or workplaces, performing servicing, diagnostics and in-depth repairs with a fully equipped RAC van and supportive tools. You’ll offer clear recommendations and maintain RAC safety standards while building customer trust.

The role runs a 40-hour week with structured schedules, overtime options and opportunities for future EV and diagnostic skills development within a national organization.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience.
• Alternatively 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic and a full UK driving licence.
• Able to diagnose and repair vehicles using mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and diagnostics on customer vehicles.
• Perform in-depth repairs you would normally complete in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspections.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
• Work through a scheduled list of jobs with a fully equipped RAC van.
