Job summary

The RAC is expanding its SMR division and seeking a Mobile Mechanic to perform planned servicing and diagnostics on members’ vehicles at customers’ driveways or workplaces. You will benefit from a clearly scheduled list of pre‑booked jobs, with all tools and support provided to deliver quality work.

You’ll operate in a people‑facing role, using your technical ability to diagnose, repair, and advise members, while following RAC standards and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance required or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic preferred.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing on vehicles.
• Perform diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Carry out in-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
