Job summary

The RAC is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division, covering Stevenage and surrounding areas with planned, pre-booked work and no emergency callouts.

You’ll work a 40‑hour week (8:30am–5:00pm) with 1 in 4 Saturdays, using advanced diagnostics and carrying out on‑site servicing and repairs to RAC standards. A fully equipped RAC van, uniform, and tools are provided from day one.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, with 2+ years of experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and diagnostics using mobile equipment.
• Perform in‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
