Job summary

RAC is hiring for a Mobile Vehicle Technician in its SMR division. You’ll work on pre-booked, in-driveway service jobs with a fully equipped RAC van and advanced diagnostics.

Expect a structured schedule, no emergency callouts, and a focus on quality repairs and member safety. You’ll diagnose and service vehicles, advise members, and perform inspections with support from a national organisation that values independence and technical growth.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
• 2+ years’ experience OR 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and diagnostics using mobile equipment.
• Perform in-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations after inspection.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
• Work from a clear, pre-booked digital schedule and prepare for each job.
