Job summary

The RAC is recruiting for a Mobile Vehicle Technician in the SMR division. You will perform pre-booked servicing, diagnostics, and in-depth repairs at customers’ homes or workplaces, with a fully equipped RAC van and structured workflows.

Expect a 40-hour week, with core hours 8:30–17:00 and one in four Saturdays. This role focuses on planned maintenance and diagnostics rather than roadside emergencies, offering a clear career path in a fast-growing service area.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing of vehicles.
• Diagnostics using mobile diagnostics equipment.
• In-depth repairs to a workshop level.
• Member advice and recommendations following inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
