Job summary

The RAC is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR Division to carry out planned servicing, diagnostics and in‑depth repairs on members' vehicles at driveways or car parks. You’ll work from a pre‑booked schedule with the necessary tools, guidance and support to complete quality work.

Expect 40 hours weekly with core hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays. The role includes a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform and career development within a growing SMR unit.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 2+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, diagnostics using mobile equipment and in‑depth repairs.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Perform vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
