Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited seeks a Mobile Vehicle Technician for a new specialist division of the UK’s leading breakdown company. You will service and repair vehicles at customer locations (driveways, workplaces) from Taunton, with a 40-hour week, Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm and one Saturday per month.

Overtime paid at 1.5x (£30ph), with potential £3k–£5k extra yearly. The role offers pension, life cover, 31–33 days holiday, career progression, and a car salary sacrifice option after 12 months.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance & repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, in a workshop or mobile role.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Customer-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks, etc.).
• Perform routine maintenance tasks: oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems including engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers.
• Process payments via card transactions.
• Keep up to date with automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location:Taunton

Pay / salary:£40,170(inclusive of LWA) OTE: In Excess of £52,000

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What youll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, orequivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
