Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain, and repair vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces. The role offers a permanent, full-time position with a shift pattern of 40 hours weekly, mainly weekdays, plus optional Saturday overtime payable at time and a half.

The role requires relevant Level 2/3 qualifications and at least 2 years post-qualification experience, valid UK driving licence, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.
• Customer-focused approach and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to work at customers' locations (driveways/off-site).

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations (driveway, office car park).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Handle payments through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of work and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Pay / salary: £45,370 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: In Excess of £57,000

Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional - more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, orequivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
