Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is recruiting for a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks, workplaces) in Birmingham and surrounding areas. The role is full-time, home-based, with 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am–5pm and one Saturday per month.

Overtime paid at 1.5x (£30ph) with potential £3,000–£5,000 extra yearly depending on overtime chosen.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles in a workshop or mobile role.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• Customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at customer locations such as driveway or office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks (oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections).
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems (engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues and communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Handle payments via card transactions.
• Keep up to date with automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Birmingham
Pay / salary: £40,178 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: In Excess of £52,000
Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph) 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.
