Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is helping a leading national breakdown company recruit a Mobile Vehicle Technician. The role covers servicing and repairs at customers' homes or work locations, including EVs, on a 40-hour week across five days with occasional Saturdays.

You will be paid £40,170 with an OTE up to £52,000, with overtime and a strong benefits package. A full UK driving licence (6 points max) is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair required.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations (incl. EVs).
• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, braking and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software; communicate repair recommendations.
• Handle payments and keep accurate service records.

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Pay / salary:£40,170 OTE: Up to £52,000

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.
• 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customers selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What youll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands‑on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
