Octane Recruitment Limited is recruiting for a Mobile Vehicle Technician for a national breakdown company based in Northampton. The role involves servicing and repairing vehicles at customers' locations, including EVs, with 40 hours per week across five days (Mon–Sat 8:00–20:00) and occasional overtime.

You will benefit from a comprehensive package and development opportunities. Applicants should have at least Level 2 (preferably Level 3) in light vehicle maintenance, 2+ years post-qualification

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence with up to 6 points and no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at customer locations such as driveways or office car parks.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Handle payments through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with latest automotive tech and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Location: Northampton

Pay / salary: £40,170 OTE: £52,000+

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays. 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

What youll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
