Overview

You will be responsible for delivering high quality mobile applications that our customers and end users love. This may involve building brand new mobile applications from the ground up or adding new features to existing mobile applications.

We value adaptable candidates who can quickly learn new technologies and languages. While core mobile development proficiency is helpful, confidence in rapidly acquiring new skills is key.

Our successful candidate is comfortable shipping code quickly, gathering feedback, owning your work, and iterating to improve the product. You have a "get it done" attitude and are always looking for ways to deliver value to users faster.

What you’ll do
  • Collaborating with the product and engineering teams to design and implement robust and scalable software solutions that meet business requirements
  • Hands-on coding, debugging, and troubleshooting of complex software components
  • Ensure code quality through code reviews, pair programming, and implementation of best practices
  • Planning, prioritising, and managing development tasks, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope
  • Collaborating with designers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Ensuring the development of high quality, maintainable, and performant mobile applications
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of at least one of Swift for iOS or Kotlin for Android, with at least a good comfort level in the other language / platform
  • Good knowledge of Swift UI and Jetpack compose
  • Good knowledge of Core Data (iOS) and RoomDB / SQLite (Android)
  • Experience creating SDKs, and working with CocoaPods and Swift Package Manager (iOS), and Gradle (Android)
  • Experience using web APIs in a robust and reliable way, failing gracefully when the APIs aren't available
  • Good knowledge of mobile design patterns software architecture, with particular attention given to scalability and performance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Exceptional mobile UX engineering skills with the ability to take a UX / UI vision from the design team and make it a reality
  • Exceptional attention to detail when it comes to testing your own work, with QA serving as a back-stop and for you to expect QA to find a minimal number of issues
  • Proficient debugging skills to quickly diagnose issues with mobile applications
  • Comfortable working with legacy code
Desirable skills (not a deal breaker)
  • Experience using Firebase, particularly for push notifications
  • Experience of creating bindings to other languages such as C and Rust
  • Knowledge of networking and WiFi, especially captive portals
  • Experience working with Google maps in mobile applications
