Description
As a Mid-Level Operations Engineer, you’ll play a hands‑on role in building and supporting our cloud infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with different functions throughout the business including developers and your peers within operations to ensure systems are performant, secure, and resilient. This role is ideal for someone with practical experience in cloud platforms (especially AWS), strong Linux fundamentals, and a drive to automate and improve.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and enhance cloud infrastructure, primarily on AWS, including provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Implement security best practices, such as IAM policies, key/cert management, logging, and vulnerability remediation.
- Automate operational tasks using scripting (e.g. Bash, Python) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Contribute to change management processes, including planning, documentation, peer review, and post‑deployment verification.
- Monitor system health and performance, investigate incidents, and participate in an on‑call rotation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on deployment pipelines, system architecture decisions, and troubleshooting production issues.
- Manage secrets, credentials, and configurations securely across environments.
- Write and maintain internal documentation for systems, procedures, and infrastructure.
What You’ll Bring (Skills, Experience & Mindset)
Skills & Experience
- Solid practical experience with AWS core services (EC2, ECS, ASG's, S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda, etc).
- Good understanding of AWS Well‑Architected Framework
- Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration (Fedora, RHEL, etc).
- Understanding of networking principles (DNS, VPCs, firewalls, ACLs, etc).
- Knowledge of DNS, CDN, caching, firewalls, load balancers, and WAFs to ensure secure and performant web delivery.
- Familiarity with IaC tooling such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Good scripting skills such as Bash and Python.
- Understanding of modern observability tools and a demonstrated ability to implement the SRE approach to reliability.
- Awareness of security practices such as key management, IAM hardening, secrets handling, and vulnerability scanning.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and Git‑based workflows.
- Ability to participate in 24/7 support rotations and respond to incidents effectively.
- Ability to adapt and manage workloads effectively based business priorities in an agile environment.

- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, SOC2) or security certifications.
