Role Overview:

We're seeking a dynamic Sales Director with experience in the 4/5-star market to lead the MICE sales team across the company. Your focus will be on developing and retaining new business and growing profitability through individual and team sales strategies. Managing and delivering the groups MICE preferred partnership program will also be part of your responsibilities.

This proactive sales role involves managing existing client relationships while seeking new MICE partnerships and cultivating new business opportunities.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Strengthen relationships with key MICE customers and identify additional opportunities within those accounts to increase penetration and maximize profit, including F&B and negotiated corporate opportunities.
  2. Understand the geographical competitive MICE landscape and Apex’s position within it; implement tactics to increase market share.
  3. Generate MICE revenue growth using a consultative selling approach to maintain and expand relationships.
  4. Lead team selling efforts to convert MICE agreements and relationships into actualized business at local levels.
  5. Manage the strategic relationships of the group’s MICE preferred partners, focusing on maximizing market share and ancillary revenues.
  6. Research, identify, and establish new business contacts, developing relationships and distribution opportunities from existing MICE programs and partners.
  7. Manage a team of regional MICE sales managers and executives to ensure departmental goals are achieved.
  8. Maintain in-depth knowledge of agent and end-user accounts and collaborate with the Group Director of Sales to create bespoke MICE offerings.
  9. Create and deliver presentations to demonstrate Apex's value proposition to MICE customers and partners.
  10. Work with operational teams to personalize interactions based on in-depth knowledge of MICE accounts.
  11. Lead annual negotiations of preferred partnerships and target all MICE accounts.
  12. Update Event & Group Managers with accurate information regarding agency partnerships, commissions, and offers.
  13. Collaborate with Heads of Event & Groups to deliver strategic plans, ensuring revenue targets are met and budgets are reviewed regularly.
  14. Create and implement Account Development plans for key accounts.
  15. Plan and execute sales activities, including research, telesales, site visits, entertaining, and client roadshows.
  16. Analyze monthly MICE pickup production and take corrective actions as needed.
  17. Contribute to monthly and annual business review reports on the MICE market and industry trends.
  18. Attend networking and trade events, ensuring follow-up post-event.
  19. Support ad hoc projects as required by the Group Director of Sales.

This role requires travel to our hotels in the UK and to events and fairs both domestically and internationally.

  • Validated multi-property experience in MICE sales.
  • Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail and organization.
  • Proactive in meeting deadlines and targets.
  • Ability to manage resources within budget constraints.
  • Strong numeracy skills, proficient with spreadsheets and budgeting.
  • Motivational leadership skills and effective communication at all levels.
  • Flexibility for regular entertainment of MICE clients and familiarization trips.
  • International travel experience to trade shows, client offices, and emerging markets.
  • Regional travel across the portfolio will be required.
