Tradewind is recruiting a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join an alternative provision in Blackpool, helping young people who require additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed.

The Role

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital part in supporting teenagers who have faced significant social, emotional, or educational barriers. You'll work alongside a committed pastoral and SEND team to help students regulate, engage, and move forward with confidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Emotional & Behavioural Support
    • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions for students with SEMH needs.
    • Use trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing approaches to support emotional regulation.
    • Help create a calm, safe and consistent learning environment.
  • Relationship Building
    • Act as a trusted adult and positive role model for young people.
    • Build strong, professional relationships that encourage resilience, communication, and self-belief.
  • Learning & Engagement Support
    • Encourage students to engage with their education and overcome barriers to learning.
    • Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads, and the SENCO to ensure the needs outlined in EHCPs are met.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Monitor and report on progress, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
    • Support staff across the provision to deliver high-quality care and interventions.
