A local medical practice in Axbridge is seeking a dedicated Medical Secretary to provide efficient secretarial and administrative support to GPs. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be competent in Microsoft Office, and have prior experience in a healthcare setting. We are looking for a candidate with secretarial experiencewho can project a positive and friendly image to patients and who isprofessional, efficient and enthusiastic.
The successful candidate will be required to have a goodlevel of education and communication skills. Confidence in using Microsoft Office essential. Knowledge of ourclinical system EMIS and NHS Choose and Book desirable, but not essential asfull training can be given.

This position is for of 24 hours per week.

CheckingAWMP email when administration team need support.
Liaisingwith external agencies such as hospitals and community services, ensuringreferrals are processed efficiently.
Answeringtelephone, liaising and helping patients with queries and appointments.
Anyother ad-hoc administrative duties.

Toprovide an efficient typing service for GPs, health professionals and practicestaff as required.
Providesupport to GPs and nurses which includes 2 Week Wait urgent referrals, districtnurse referrals and Independent Living etc.
Toestablish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written orcomputer information is easily accessible and secure.
Processingrequests for information ie, SAR, insurance or solicitors letters and DVLAforms, as required
Touse the AccuRx SMS service for patients.
Toprovide cover for fellow medical secretary during periods of sickness andannual leave.
Tocarry out password changes or unblocking Smart cards at the request of allstaff in the practice.
AllocatingChild Protection letters and queries to GPs by checking against protocol.
Bookingof private medicals and liaising with GPs including updating and managingexcel spreadsheet.
UpdatingGPs and practice staff on any changes regarding referrals.
Dealingwith tasks from GPs, nurses, receptionists on a daily basis. Monitoring and prioritising urgent tasks andinforming the team.
Processingreferrals using the electronic referral system (ERS).
Processingpatient/insurance company requests for patient records through emR system.
FollowingDNAR and TEP protocol and using Black Pear patient system
Updatingall protocols where necessary for role
Followingall protocols in administration office and ensuring Vital folder is current
Frankingof mail and taking to Post Office.
Keepingahead of any changes sent through by email from GPs, practice manager, deputymanager or outside agencies.
Keeppersonal online training up-to-date.
Checkingstaff pigeon holes and distributing internal and external post.
Liaisingwith locums so that they understand how our referral system works.
Amendingand uploading templates.
Thepost-holder to be aware of all current safeguarding policies which areavailable on our TeamNet portal.
