Job Overview

Initial duties include: the collection and filing of Health Record Folders into the storage areas and archiving (scanning folders) using the Trust archiving system. Further duties will include retrieval of Health Record Folders, updating patient demographic details in their folders and in the Trust's PAS system, and reception duties. The post is active and involves substantial lifting, walking, pushing trolleys and transferring patient folders.

An opportunity has arisen to join this busy and demanding department. Successful candidates will be motivated, enthusiastic, possess good communication skills and work well within a team. Maintenance of patient confidentiality and excellent customer care skills are essential to this post.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and file Health Record Folders into storage areas.
  • Archive (scan) folders using the Trust archiving system.
  • Retrieve Health Record Folders when required.
  • Update patient demographic details in folders and on the Trust’s PAS system.
  • Perform reception duties.
  • Lift, walk, push trolleys and transfer patient folders, often across considerable distances.
  • Access vulnerable people as part of normal duties; must comply with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and provide DBS disclosure.
Key Requirements
  • Minimum 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths.
  • ECDL qualification desirable.
  • Filing system experience.
  • Clerical/admin experience desirable.
  • Medical records experience desirable.
  • Physically able to handle and move heavy Health Record folders.
