Overview

Our client is seeking a Media Analyst to join our Communications Measurement team in EMEA, focusing on key markets including Germany, UK, Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, Nigeria, Israel, Poland and Arabic-speaking regions. This role will drive the analysis of our communications impact across traditional press, social media, and owned channels, with a strong emphasis on automating press data and analytics processes. The ideal candidate will combine solid quantitative and qualitative analysis skills with technical expertise in data pipelines, dashboard development, and media monitoring tools. Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in at least one additional language from key markets strongly preferred. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in journalism, communications, data analytics, or media measurement, offering the opportunity to shape EMEA communications strategy while gaining expertise in large-scale media impact analysis. Candidates will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, contributing to strategic decisions for client’s global Communications and Public Affairs leadership.

Location: UK - 100% Remote

Length: 12 Months - with possibility of extension

Rate: From £27.40+ per hour PAYE (approx 57K p/a equivalent)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Analyze Media Coverage: Read, summarize, and analyze media coverage across EMEA markets, providing qualitative and quantitative insights into key issues and news cycles.
  • Perform Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis: Apply trend and sentiment analysis to derive actionable insights, contextualizing media activity within local and regional frameworks.
  • Inform on Regional News Cycles: Provide insights on local and international news cycles and policy issues, tailoring analyses to the cultural and linguistic contexts of Europe, Africa and Middle East regions.
  • Develop Automated Data Pipelines: Design and manage scalable data pipelines and databases to ingest, clean, and transform press and media data from diverse sources, ensuring efficient automation of press collation.
  • Support Strategic Decision-Making: Quantify the impact of client’s proactive and reactive communications efforts, establish KPIs, and create reports with visualizations to inform global Communications and Public Affairs strategies.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with data engineering, analytics, and communications teams to integrate press data with internal datasets, ensuring comprehensive media measurement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in media analysis, journalism, communications, research, or related roles, or at a media agency, media analysis firm, media measurement platform, or think tank.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in English and strong communication skills, with the ability to draft messaging materials and news summaries.
  • Experience handling and visualizing datasets in deadline-driven environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and optimizing large-scale datasets
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in at least one additional EMEA language to support region-specific media analysis.
  • Experience with media monitoring tools and measurement projects analyzing media coverage and social media conversations.
  • Familiarity with client’s internal data tools or similar platforms for dashboard development and analytics.
  • Knowledge of dashboard design principles and user experience considerations.
  • Experience with visualization libraries for customizing dashboard components.
  • Understanding of metrics and analytics within press and social media monitoring.
Technical Requirements
  • Data Pipeline and Database Management: Ability to design scalable pipelines for automated ingestion and processing of press and media data.
  • Data Integration: Experience collaborating with data teams to integrate media data with broader datasets for holistic insights.
  • Dashboard Development: Proficiency in creating interactive dashboards with tools like Unidash, leveraging APIs for automation and scalability.
  • SQL Expertise: Strong skills in writing and optimizing SQL queries for efficient data extraction and aggregation.
  • Quantitative Analysis: Competence in applying statistical and analytical techniques to media data, including trend and sentiment analysis.
