Responsibilities
- Understand and produce high quality products from mechanical drawings provided.
- Travel to events abroad as Maintenance Technician when required; assist coordinate rigging and de‑rigging mechanical equipment and structures.
- Maintain and keep in good order department tools including power tools and Mechanical Engineering stores; prepare components to be sent to an event.
- Support and provide feedback to the drawing office when required and assist in development of prototypes.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults and undertake repair work.
- Weld using MIG, TIG, arc and gas welding and cutting equipment, aware of machine shop and fabrication techniques.
- Compile technical reports with associated drawings as required, pertaining to mechanical systems or operations.
- Carry out unplanned maintenance as required.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently and provide design modification and change requests to the drawing office.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong ability to read and understand mechanical layout and engineering drawings.
- Excellent computer literacy; proficiency in AutoCAD (2D).
- Current UK driving licence.
- Apprenticeship or recognised qualification (NVQ 3, BTEC level 3 or degree in a mechanical engineering environment).
- Qualified to operate forklift, Merlot, cherry picker and scissor lift.
- Extensive experience in a Mechanical Engineering environment.
