Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Department: Maintenance
Responsible to: Maintenance Manager

SUMMARY

The position works within the plant Maintenance team covering four sites; you will be responsible for the planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance and not only; adhering to strict health and safety Company procedures at all times; you will be required to generate daily reports; weekly and monthly and you will be required to document all work carried out in the Maintenance system used. You will also provide guidance to Maintenance semi‑skill members of the team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To carry out equipment breakdowns effectively and efficiently.
  • To extract/receive and carry out planned preventative Maintenance (from CMMS) on all pre-processing equipment aiming to achieve maximum plant availability, with zero unplanned down time.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Conduct safety compliance inspections and maintain records.
  • Ensure that programmed work is completed on time, to the satisfaction of business requirement.
  • Working to health and safety, environmental other standards as they apply to the process.
  • Maintaining standard operating procedures as required.
  • Support external buildings/service maintenance contractor teams (fire alarms, compressor etc.).
  • Develop/document training material to facilitate transfer of skills and knowledge to other members.
  • Effective evidence and control of critical spares for all key processes and ask for complete it.
  • Experience of working with engineering drawings.
  • Adhere to safe working practice and procedures including and not limited to lockout, tag out, confined space and working at heights.
  • Following assessment may operate a variety of equipment including loaders, forklifts, high lifts, cranes, cherry pickers or scissor lifts.
  • Assist Electrical engineer on his task.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum NVQ level 3 in suitable engineering subject. IOSH desirable

Additional Information

Salary: DOE upto £53,000

Call outs will be paid minimum of 4 hours after training and competency reached if required.

Salary review after 3 and 6 months, outcome dependant on performance when signed off as competent and able to go on the call out rota if required.

Hours: Working Hours – Two Week Shift Pattern (12hr Shift): Two Weeks – Days: Week 1 36hrs, Week 2 48hrs; Two Weeks – Nights: Week 1 36hrs, Week 2 48hrs

On Call: When required

Holidays 28 per annum including bank holidays
