Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Bracknell is seeking a Senior Engineer to work across the project life cycle from concept designs to deliverables. The role requires design experience in a variety of processes and the ability to lead teams while ensuring timelines and budgets are met. The ideal candidate will have expertise in digital approaches and be involved in mentoring. Job description

As a senior engineer you are likely to have the ability to work across the project life cycle from developing concept designs to outline and detailed designs, and the skills to work in or direct process engineering teams to ensure the production of deliverables to established timelines and within budget.

What You’ll Do

• Co‑ordinate the work of others and liaise with engineers of other disciplines, imparting your knowledge and experiences.
• Work in highly regulated sectors within a gated design and project delivery process.
• Develop mass and energy balances, process data sheets, control philosophies, and commissioning plans.
• Write reports and develop fee proposals and feasibility studies of plant operating and capital costs.
• Apply practical comprehension of how designs will be implemented and use digital approaches and current analysis and design software.
• Participate in and help shape the senior engineer mentoring programme and the graduate training scheme accredited by IChemE.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Design experience with fixed and suspended growth systems, anaerobic treatment of biosolids and high‑strength effluent, biogas handling and upgrading, membrane separation, solids filtration, disinfection, oxygenation, thermal hydrolysis, nutrient removal processes, chemical storage and dosing systems.
• Experience with HazOp, DSEAR, COMAH, SIL determination, flammable gas handling and compression.
• Experience leading process engineering teams ensuring deliverables within timelines and budgets.
• Experience acting as the process designer in HazOp teams and chairing HazOp studies.
• Development of fee proposals, creation of PID, plant layouts, GA, and energy and mass balances.
• Development of feasibility studies and plant operating and capital costs.

Additional Attributes

• Demonstrable experience working collaboratively with colleagues and external collaborators.
• Line management responsibilities supporting engineers and early careers.
• Proficiency in digital approaches to solve problems using relevant current analysis and design software.
