A well-established and growing M&E contractor is seeking an experienced M&E Buyer to manage the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract packages across a diverse portfolio of building services projects. This is a permanent, full-time role offering a clear progression path and the opportunity to shape and streamline procurement processes as the business continues its expansion.
Operating across the residential, healthcare, and commercial sectors, this is a delivery-focused business that values efficiency, attention to detail, and proactive supplier management. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of equipment, materials, and services to support projects throughout London and the South East.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies in line with project and business objectives
- Manage supplier selection, negotiate pricing, and agree terms to maximise value and ensure compliance
- Track material and plant requirements across projects in coordination with project managers and site teams
- Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, contracts, and delivery schedules
- Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, assess pricing trends, and source alternative products where necessary
- Prepare procurement schedules and monitor costs to support project commercial performance
- Attend internal project meetings to remain aligned with delivery requirements and timelines
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and relevant industry regulations
- Provide regular reporting and updates on procurement status and potential risks
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in a procurement role within the M&E, construction, or engineering sector
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical building services materials and supply chains
- Strong negotiation skills and a commercial mindset
- Ability to manage multiple orders, suppliers, and lead times across varied project requirements
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers
- Proficiency in procurement software, MS Office, and internal project tracking systems
- Full UK driving licence
