A leading engineering firm in Manchester is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of mechanical components. The ideal candidate has strong SolidWorks expertise and will work closely with manufacturing and project teams. Responsibilities include designing components from concept to manufacture, producing accurate CAD models, and collaborating across teams to ensure design quality. Qualifications

Job Title - Mechanical Design Engineer

• Contract Type - Outside IR35
• Duration - 6 Months
• Working Model - Hybrid (2–3 days on-site, Manchester)
• Hourly Rate - £40 - £55 p/hour (depending on expierence)

Mechanical Design Engineer Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks expertise to support the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies from concept through to manufacture. This role will suit a contractor who is confident producing detailed SolidWorks models and drawings and can work closely with manufacturing and project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Designing mechanical components and assemblies from concept to manufacture using SolidWorks
• Producing accurate 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
• Supporting projects through development, testing, and production
• Working closely with manufacturing, quality, and project teams to ensure designs are fit for purpose

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline
• Strong, hands-on experience using SolidWorks in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and design documentation
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and tolerances
• Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly
