Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in the UK is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop compliant design solutions. Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer. Product Category Engineering. Location: Barrow. Contract - 6 Months - Outside IR35. Reporting to Engineering Manager. Working relationships: Project Engineers, Quality, Production, Customers and Suppliers.

Responsibilities

• To produce robust and compliant design solutions from clients or project specifications and national standards.
• Be proficient in creating 3D CAD Models (Inventor or SolidWorks) and 2D manufacturing drawings (AutoCAD).
• To continuously search for, and capture knowledge relating to design activity and apply LFE to new designs.
• To work with other departments such as projects, production, manufacturing, and the supply chain.
• To produce and verify design calculations.
• To work with the Lead Engineers to check and approve designs to ensure the most appropriate and cost-effective solutions are selected to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
• Assist and being responsible to meet the project requirements and deadlines in line with the budget and quality targets.
• To check own and other design and technical solutions for completeness and correctness.
• To carry out any other relevant task as requested.

• Occasional travel to other company locations and customer site locations within the UK may be required.
• Participate in meetings and influence decisions where appropriate.
