£50,000 - £55,000 per year + Performance Bonuses

Ashley Services are partnering with a respected building services contractor, to source an experienced Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and ambitious professional looking to contribute to a growing and forward‑thinking organisation.

Our client is an established design and build contractor specialising in the design, installation, and management of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health Engineering services. They deliver complete solutions from concept to commissioning — with a strong focus on renewable energy and sustainable building services.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent mechanical design engineer with strong UK building services experience, capable of delivering HVAC solutions from concept through to completion. You will work closely with the Project Director while also taking full ownership of your own projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design of HVAC systems from early‑stage concept through to delivery and commissioning
  • Undertaking full project duties: surveying, feasibility, detailed design, client and design team meetings, and site inspections
  • Working collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary environment
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and internal teams
Skills & Experience Required
  • Chartered, Degree, or HND/HNC qualified in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering
  • Post‑qualification UK construction/building services design experience is essential
  • Experience across sectors such as commercial, distribution, retail, and residential (advantageous)
  • Good understanding of other MEP disciplines, BREEAM, and sustainability principles
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations—especially Part L—and low‑carbon engineering
  • Proficient in Word and Excel; AutoCAD essential; Revit advantageous
  • Experience with design software such as Hevacomp, OpenBuildings, or similar
  • Confident communicator with excellent English—client‑facing role
  • Ambitious, driven, and looking to contribute to long‑term business growth
